hi, i'm sarah ward

Nice to meet you! I’m a Wardrobe Stylist turned UX Designer.

Originally from lush rainforest of Vancouver, Canada, I now live in the high desert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, just off Route 66. An avid flamenco dancer, I’m here because it’s the best place to study flamenco outside of Spain.

I’m all about the art of reinvention and once Covid hit I pivoted from the fashion industry into UX Design. Armed with a background in Visual Design and hand lettering, my background folded seamlessly into my new field.

Previously I was a Wardrobe Stylist for Universal Standard, Lead Editorial Stylist at Zulily, and a Styling Assistant for Amazon Fashion. I studied Visual Design at the Conselle Institute with an emphasis in Image Consulting, which shouldn’t have come as a surprise for me since dress-up has always been my favorite form of play.

a quick visual get to know you:

I was born a cat lady. In 2017 I placed a whole litter of kittens, and have two black cats, Max & Ginger.

I’m the oldest of five kids so leadership was something I was forced into given the opportunity to develop early on.

Every year, my family throws a big costume party complete with a photo booth. Every year except 2020, for obvious reasons.

music

Like any respecting Canadian Asian girl, I took my first piano lesson when I was 3, though since I wasn’t very good at reading sheet music early on, I learned to play by ear. I taught piano at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music when it opened in Vancouver, Canada back in 2002 and had my own private practice for a decade.

Recently I was recruited by a local film production company to write the score for a short silent film called An Artist’s Story — here’s a snippet!
