Design is the silent ambassador of your brand.

-- Paul Rand

The process of designing a logo involves quick sketches, getting ideas out fast on paper to see what will resonate with the client, and then fine-tuning until we finally land at the finished product. Not unlike rapid prototyping and iterating on the design in UX Design

This logo was for Caras de Flamenco, a flamenco gallery and performance showcase in Seattle.

Since flamenco as an art form is full of flourish and personality, it made sense to employ a serif with swash embellishments that intersected with different letterforms to mirror what would unfold on the stage.

lettering murals

Growing up my parents let us draw on the walls of our bedroom so I took full advantage of this. Little did they know that this permission to create would lead to drawing on the walls professionally. Years later, my Dad later told me it took 7 coats of primer to cover up the mess we made.

For this project, the Lash and Wax Boutiques in Seattle invited me in to make uplifting lettering art on their walls in multiple locations that aligned with their lash offerings.

Who doesn’t like a little pick-me-up in the powder room?

lettering workshops

A second generation art teacher, I developed a curriculum of modern calligraphy and hand lettering workshops, teaching hundreds of students to rave reviews.

I’ve been hired to facilitate engaging workshops by the likes of Google, MOZ, Fran’s Chocolates and more.

When I went LetterWest in Salt Lake City, I took a tactile lettering class and discovered I could combine my love of lettering and styling. This workshop inspired the Edible Alphabet series.

There is alliteration in each composition:

A for Asparagus

B for black beans

C for cacao beans

And so on.

I have explored a variety of different fonts in the creating of the Edible Alphabet including block, serif, + calligraphic fonts.

Visually the backdrops are monochromatic for a pleasing aesthetic.

wedding calligraphy

Since every love story is different, every bride and groom (or bride and bride, or groom and groom) have their own vision, I’ve had the honor of creating wedding signage, invitation suites and envelopes.

This suite included a warm mauve palette and instead of the customary pointed pen style calligraphy, this utilized an effervescent brush instead.

If you like what you see, let’s create something together! I’m available for hire for murals, sign painting, weddings and events. At the end of the day, we’ll have a project we’re proud of, and we’ll have fun in the process.
