caras de flamenco

Caras de Flamenco, or Faces of Flamenco, was a flamenco gallery and dance showcase event in Seattle, WA, featuring flamenco artists and photographers.

Since flamenco as an art form is full of flourish and personality, it made sense to employ a serif with swash embellishments that intersected with letterforms to mirror what would unfold on the stage.

initial sketches

Initially it wasn’t clear whether the event would be called Caras de Flamenco or Faces of Flamenco, so seeing them sketched out ultimately made us lean towards Caras. You can begin to see some of the general themes taking form with the embellishments and drop shadows.

work in progress

Once it was determined that the show would be called Caras de Flamenco, the logo together nicely. Here you can see the analogue process of sketching the logo onto drafting paper with pencil, then tracing it in black ink, and tracing another layer for the drop shadow. Afterwards, these were scanned, cleaned up and melded together in Adobe Photoshop.

marketing materials

With a final digital logo, we were able to brand all the marketing for Caras de Flamenco including Facebook headers, posters, social media posts, and programs.
